Fransa’da Helal Gıda Tartışmaları: “Kebab” Örneği

Abstract

Bu makalede, Fransa’da yaşayan Müslüman kökenli göçmenlerin entegrasyonu meselesi “helal gıda” ve “kebab” tartışmaları bağlamında ele alınacaktır. Çoğunluk toplumuyla bütünleşmenin önemli unsurlarından biri olan yemek alışkanlıklarının dönüşümü meselesi Fransa’da son dönemin önemli konularından biridir. Özellikle Müslüman kökenli göçmenlerin alternatif yeme-içme pratiğinin sosyal görünürlüğünün artmasıyla, “helal yaşam tarzı” kamuoyunun daha çok ilgisini çekmeye başlamıştır. Fransa’da Nisan 2022’de yapılacak olan başkanlık seçimlerinin de yaklaşmasıyla Müslüman kökenli göçmenleri konu olan tartışmalar gündemde daha çok yer bulmaktadır. Aşırı sağın tabanını genişletmek için başvurduğu “İslam” karşıtı söylemin seçim yaklaştıkça kendini merkezde tanımlayan siyasi partileri de etki altına almasıyla; İslam’ın bir kültürel öteki olarak kurgulanması, Müslüman kökenli göçmenlerin gündelik hayat pratiklerini tartışılır hale getirmiştir. Bu bağlamda cevabı aranan soru; “helal gıda” ve “kebab”ın ev sahibi toplumla bütünleşmeyi nasıl etkilediğidir. Makalenin sınırları içinde bu sorunun cevabı güncel tartışmalar gözetilerek verilmeye çalışılacaktır. İlk kısımda, “helal gıda” ve entegrasyon üzerine genel bir okuma gerçekleştirilecektir. İkinci bölümde, Türk göçmenlerin yayılmasında öncülük ettiği “Kebab” olgusu etraflıca analiz edildikten sonra genel bir değerlendirmeyle makale sonlandırılacaktır.

Halal Food Discussion in France: The Case of “Kebab”

Abstract

In this article, the issue of integration of immigrants who are of Muslim origin and living in France will be discussed within the context of the “halal food” and “kebab” themes. The transformation of eating habits which is one of the significant aspects of becoming the majority of the society has become a debated topic in recent years in France. Particularly, with the increase of social appearance of the alternative eating-drink habits of Muslim immigrants, “the halal lifestyle” has attracted more attention from the public. Debates regarding Muslim-origin immigrants have started to occupy more attention in the mainstream media with the upcoming presidential elections in France in April 2022. The “Anti-Islamic” rhetoric which has been used by the far-right to widen its political base has also influenced other political parties that define themselves in the center as the presidential election approaches. As a result of this, the construction of Islam as the cultural other has led the daily practices of Muslim-origin immigrants debatable. In this regard, the question that should be looked for an answer is; how do “halal food” and “kebab” influence the integration of immigrants with the French society. Current debates will be considered to answer and explain this question within the scope of this article. In the first part of the article, a general review of “halal food” and “integration” will be presented. In the second chapter, the “Kebab” phenomenon, which has been spread by Turkish immigration, will be thoroughly analyzed, and a general discussion will be presented.
