The Effects of Tomato Seedlings Growing with Side Shoots on Growth, Development and Yield in Tomato

Abstract

This study was carried out in the greenhouse area of the Faculty of Agriculture of Ondokuz Mayıs University in order to investigate the growth, development and yield effects of the seedling produced by the branch shoots in tomato cultivation. In the study, seedlings obtained by rooting of 100 pieces of branch shoots taken in lengths of 10 to 15 cm and seedling obtained from seed were taken to be tried. It was determined that there was no statistical difference in growth between rooting of branch shoots and seedling obtained from seed, but higher yield (2.5 kg) was obtained in seed-produced tomato plants.
