Determination of Pesticide Residues in Seedless Table Grapes

Abstract

Today, pesticides are used extensively in different stages of agricultural production and post-harvest storage. Pesticides help control a wide variety of harmful insect and plant diseases and therefore increase productivity. However, these harmful chemicals pollute the various foods during both production and storage, and continue with the food chain, causing serious health problems in the human body. Toxicity of these compounds requires monitoring of pesticide residues in food products to assess pesticide exposure in foodstuffs. In this study, 60 seedless grape samples obtained from local markets in Hatay were examined for 80 pesticide residues. The samples were prepared according to QUECHERS method and analyzed in LC-MS / MS. In seedless grapes; carbendazim, azoxystrobin, cypermethrin, cyprodinil, metalaxyl, chlorpyrifos, myclobutanil, fludioxonil, dimethomorph and imazalil residues have been detected. Carbendazim and imazalil amounts determined in 9 samples exceed the maximum residue limits.
