Triage scoring systems in pediatric trauma

Year 2005, Volume: 36 Issue: 4, 173 - 176, 01.05.2005

Abstract

For more than 30 years various scoring systems have been used as a method to asses the injury severity of multi-system trauma. They have been used as a tool for triage, for emergency-room quality management, for educational reasons or, nowadays, in order to evaluate the cost effectiveness of either a complete hospital or a single department. This review presents an overview of scoring systems used in pediatric and adult trauma. Triage scoring systems, using readily available physical examination, physiologic, and/or mechanism of injur y parameters, are used to determine appropriate prehospital referral patterns. As clinicans and researchers working with trauma patients, it is imperative that we be knowledgeable of the methodologies and applications of these scoring systems to ensure their quality and appropriate utilization.

Pediyatrik travmada hasta yönlendirme skorlamaları

Year 2005, Volume: 36 Issue: 4, 173 - 176, 01.05.2005
