Yıl 2012, Cilt: 1 Sayı: 1, 67 - 69, 01.01.2012

Öz

Canine Babesiosis, a tick borne protozoal disease characterized by acute hemolysis, fever, anorexia, depression, pale mucous membranes, splenomegaly and relevant clinical signs. Abdominal compartment syndrome is a condition caused by increased intra-abdominal pressure, that may cause progressive hypoperfusion and ischemia of the peritoneal and retroperitoneal structures. Even if the pressure remains for a long period, multiple organ failure and insufficiencies develop. Despite considerable research relevant to abdominal compartment syndrome in dogs, only 1 previous report was presented regarding this syndrome in dogs with Babesiosis. Therefore within presentation of this case the aim was to describe abdominal compartment syndrome in Babesia canis infected dog, within limited literature review.
