Bibliometric Analysis of Scientific Studies on Sella Turcica

Abstract

Sella turcica is an important anatomical structure located in the os sphenoidale, where the glandula pitutiaria is located in the space in its center and is also used as a reference point in radiological images. The aim of this study is to make a bibliometric analysis of studies related to sella turcica or including sella turcica. For this purpose, data (5066 publications containing the "sella turcica" keyword) were taken from the Web of Science Core Collection database and processed in the VOSviewer visual scientific mapping software program. The bibliometric data received as program output (such as country, publishing house, author, publication, keyword, term) were transferred to tables and scientific maps and analyzed in detail. In the light of these data, it was seen that European countries and the USA played a leading role in scientific studies on this subject. It was also noted that studies in the fields of "surgery", "neurology" and "endocrinology" were concentrated. We believe that this bibliometric analysis we have conducted will both inform clinicians and academics working in the field about the current situation and give ideas for future studies.
