Nuclear Medicine Approach to Stress Fracture
Abstract
Stress fracture is a common sports injury. It is result of recurrent strain to normal bone, generally. The diagnosis of stress fracture is important in terms of patient management.Three phase bone scintigraphy is a very sensitive method in the diagnosis of the stress fracture. Bone SPECT, SPECT/CT, PET/CT, PET/MR imaging modalities are other radionuclide imaging techniques which are helpful in the diagnosis of stress fracture. We aimed to describe the approach of the nuclear medicine in the diagnosis of stress fracture in this article.
