Total body irradiation in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

Öz

Total body irradiation is used in conjunction with chemotherapy as a conditioning regimen in the treatment of many disease such as leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, aplastic anemia, multiple myeloma and lymphoma prior to the hematopoetic stem cell transplantation. The main purposes of the hematopoetic stem cell transplantation are eradication of the recipient bone marrow and any residual cancer cells, creation of space in the receipient bone marrow for donor hematopoetic stem cells, and immunosuppression to prevent rejection of donor stem cells in the case of an allotransplant.

Öz

Tüm vücut ışınlama hematopoetik kök hücre nakli öncesi kemoterapi ile beraber hazırlık rejimi olarak lösemi, miyelodisplastik sendrom, aplastik anemi, multipl miyelom, lenfoma gibi birçok hastalığın tedavisinde kullanılmaktadır. Hazırlık rejiminin ana amacı alıcı kemik iliği ve olası rezidüel tümör hücrelerini eradike etmek, alıcının kemik iliğinde verici hematopoetik kök hücreleri için yer açmak ve allotransplant durumunda donör kök hücre reddini önlemek için immünsupresyon sağlamaktır.
