Öz
Prostatitis is an infection or inflammation of the prostate gland that presents as several syndromes with varying clinical features. This painful condition mostly affects young and middle-aged men and diminishes their quality of life. With the recent introduction of a new classification for this disease, more effective approach for the evaluation and management of the patients with chronic pelvic pain syndrome has emerged. Nonetheless, no definitely effective treatment regime has yet been described in the literature.

Öz
Prostat bezinin enfeksiyonu veya inflamasyonu olarak bilinen prostatit farklı klinik tablolarda görülebilmektedir. Genellikle orta yaş ve genç erişkin erkekleri etkileyen ağrılı ve yaşam kalitesini bozucu bir durumdur.Son yıllarda yeni bir sınıflandırma sisteminin ortaya atılmasıyla hastalığın değerlendirilmesi, sınıflandırılması ve tedavisinde daha bilinçli bir yaklaşımın ortaya çıkması mümkün olmuştur. Bununla birlikte literatürde kesin etkili tedavi yöntemi henüz tanımlanmamıştır.
