An Investigation of Turkey’s Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index for 2016 and 2017 via ORESTE and Factor Analysis

Abstract

Turkey Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index is published every year by TÜBİTAK starting from 2012. There are 5 dimensions in the index. Using the index, scientific activities of universities as well as industry and other collaborations can be considered together in the same platform. Entrepreneurship is an umbrella term that helps to better understand the opportunities that may arise in the realization of the social and commercial activities of employees and individuals in daily life, working life and society. This arrangement of the universities under the term of Entrepreneurship leads the way to universities for better future planning. In this study, published for 2016 and 2017 by TUBITAK Turkey’s Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index values were examined via ORESTE and Factor Analysis. According to the related techniques, the changes in university rankings are explained.

Abstract

Girişimcilik, insan hayatının her alanında karşısına çıkan fırsatları daha iyi anlamalarına yardımcı olan ve birçok disiplini içerisinde barındıran şemsiye bir kavramdır. Türkiye Girişimci ve Yenilikçi Üniversite Endeksi 2012 yılından bugüne kadar yıllık olarak TÜBİTAK tarafından yayınlanmaktadır. Endeks içerisinde 5 boyut bulunmaktadır. Endeks yardımıyla hem üniversitelerin bilimsel etkinlikleri hem de sanayi ve diğer işbirlikleri bir arada ele alınabilmektedir. Bu endeks ülkemizde, üniversitelerin yenilikçilik ve girişimcilik kavramları üzerindeki başarısını ve yeni hedefler belirlemesini sağlayan ilk ve tek sonuçları yansıtmaktadır. Bu çalışmada Girişimcilik kavramı etrafında toparlanarak üniversitelerin sıralamalarının yapılması üniversitelere geleceğe dönük planlamalarında yol gösterici olmaktadır. Bu çalışmada TÜBİTAK tarafından 2016 ve 2017 yılları için yayınlanan Türkiye Girişimci ve Yenilikçi Üniversite Endeksi değerleri ORESTE ve Faktör analizi yardımıyla incelenmiştir. TÜBİTAK puanlamalarına göre farklı sıralama sonuçlarını ORESTE yöntemi ve sıralamada boyutların farklı ele alınması gerektiğini faktör analizi yöntemi göstermektedir. İlgili tekniklere göre üniversite sıralamalarında meydana gelen değişimler açıklanmıştır.
