The Roman-Persian relations have been focused of attention by many scholars and analyzed with its political and diplomatic dimensions until today. However, the historical geography of the struggle and socio-cultural effects of the battles has not yet been studied thoroughly. This great struggle is a war series which lasted from the third century to the middle of seventh century and it covered the Caucasus in the north and the Arabian Peninsula in the south. But we could say that the main center of wars was Upper Tigris Basin absolutely. In this thesis, Rome and Sasanian wars have been studied in general lines and reinterpreted with the first chapter. Historical geography of the region and cities and forts of Upper Tigris Basin has been examined in the second chapter. Finally, an introduction has been made to socio-cultural conditions of Upper Tigris Basin which include the issues such as demography, city life and deportations in the last chapter.
