Surgical treatment method which we aplied to the fibrous ankylosis of the knee joint

A series of 22 cases have been examined with fibrous ankylosis originiated from Quadriceps muscle contractures and intra and extra articular fibrous adhesions. Etiological factors of these cases were displacet or comminuted fractures of the femur, which were treated by conservative or surgical methods and kept in plaster of Paris cast for three months. In all these cases almost 90° flexion has been gained by changing the insertion of the patellar tendon towards proximal.
