Morphology and pathogenesis of meniscal lesions

Abstract

Between 1970 and 1980, 204 patients that menisectomy was applied at the Hacettepe University Hospital has been evaluated retrospectively. During this study to establish a treatment modality for menisci tears, morphological evaluation of the injured menisci was made. The results are discussed in relation to the literature. This study suggests that if longitudinal tears-which are seen among young adults the most-should be treated with partial menisectomy or primary repair to prevent knee problems.
