Cheilectomy operation in perthes-calve-legg disease

Abstract

Between 1981 and 1988 Cheilectomy operation was performed to 13 hips of 13 patients in Orthopaedics and Traumatology Deparrment of Istanbul Medical Faculty. The results that were obtained from the patients who were followed for avarage of 58,3 months were argued under the light of literature knowledge. As a result, it was determined that Cheilectomy operation showed endication especially between the ages of 10-14 in the cases where the head of femur showed ossification growth plate was open and chondral space was well protected. The importance of evaluating the cases exactly in the preoperative period and the necessity of postoperative following were also pointed out. It was determined that Cheilectomy corrected only femoral head deformation and the operations such as pelvic osteotomy or distal transfer of the greater Trochanter might be necessary and because of its positive effect on result, the importance of following the patient closely was pointed out.

Öz

İstanbul Üniversitesi İstanbul Tıp Fakültesi Ortopedi ve Travmatoloji Anabilim Dalında 1981-1988 yılları arasında 13 hastanın 13 kalçasına Cheilectomy ameliyatı uygulandı. Ortalama 58,3 ay takip edilen hastalardan elde edilen sonuçlar literatür bilgisi ışığı altında tartışıldı. Sonuç olarak femur başı epifizinin ossifiye ve büyüme plağının açık olduğu, kıkırdak aralığının iyi korunduğu vakalarda Cheilectomy ameliyatının özellikle 10-14 yaşları arasında endikasyon bulduğu vurgulandı. Ameliyat öncesi dönemde vakaların tam olarak değerlendirilmesinin ve ameliyat sonrası takibin önemi belirtildi. Cheilectomy'nin yalnız femur başı deformitelerin düzelttiği ve pelvik osteotomi ya da büyük trokanterin distale nakli gibi ilave cerrahi işlemlerin gerekli olabileceği hastanın bu nedenle yakın takip altında tutulmasının netice üzerine direkt tesiri açısından önemli olduğu vurgulandı. .
