Chevron osteotomy in surgical treatment of Hallux Valgus

Öz

Between the years 1985-1989 in Department of orthopaedics and Traumatology of Gülhane Military Medical Academy and Faculty Training Hospital in Haydarpaşa, Chevron osteotomy was performed in 18 feet of 17 patients with hallux valgus. Mean followup period was 15 months. We have approximately obtained improvement 22° in MP angle and of 8°in MPV angle. The mean decrease in forefoot width was 7mm. Our success rate is 83.3%. Chevron osteotomy, with its easiness to perform, excellent functional and cosmetic results, stability and low complication rate, is an advisable surgical technique.
