Application of Chevron operation for patients with hallux valgus deformities and their results

Abstract

The Chevron osteotomy realignment of the first metatarsal head in hallux valgus deformity has been utilized at our clinics For the last six years on 52 feet (35 patientst Follow up evaluation disclosed excellent relief of pain, good cosmetic correction and overall patient satisfaction Radiographic evaluation demostrated reduction in the angle between the phalanx and the metatarsal bone of the great toe as well as narrowing of the forefoot with a decreased angle between the first and the second melatarsal bones. The stability of the osteotomy, the technical ease and the absence of secondary difficulties such as transfer metatarsalgia make this procedure preferable when osteotomy of the distal portion of the first metatarsal bone is used for correction of moderate deformity.

Halluks valgus deformiteli olgulara Chevron operasyonu uygulaması ve sonuçları

Öz

Halluks valgus deformitelerinde birinci metatarsın yeniden doğrultulabilmesi için son 6 yıldır kliniklerimizde 52 ayağa Chevron osteotomisi uyguladık. İzleme süresince olgularımızın çoğunluğunda ağrının ortadan kalkması ve kozmetik görünümün düzelmesini memnuniyet verici düzeyde saptadık. Radyolojik değerlendirmelerde falanks ile birinci metatars arasındaki açıda ve birinci ile ikinci metatars arasındaki açıda azalma saptadık Orta derecedeki deformitelerin düzeltilmesi için birinci metatars kemiğinin distalinden osteotomi yapılacaksa, osteotominin stabil olması teknik kolaylık ve metataraljinin oluşmaması nedeniyle bu işlem tercih edilmelidir.
