The importance of the posterior release procedure in the treatment of PEV
Abstract
Posterior release operation was done to 33 feet of 22 patients with congenital club foot between the years 1982-1987 in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology Department of Istanbul Sisli Etfal Hospital. The average age for the operation was 7.5 months and the average duration of follow up was 31 months. The operated feet were evaluated according to Simons' criteria and only two had satisfoctory results. We concluded that posterior release operation fails to-correct the deformity in children with club foot above 6 months of age.
