11 years retrospective analysis of bone and soft tissue tumors

Abstract

420 bone and soft tissue tumors were detected in 162.764 patients, examined at the Orthopaedic Department of Gülhane Military Medical Academy between 1981-1991. Primary malign bone and soft tissue tumors were seen in 126 cases while 270 patients had benign bone tumors. Only 24 metastatic bone tumors were scrutinized. Osteochondroma was the most common one (62%) and the chondroblastoma was the least one (0.4%). On the other side, 42% of all malign and soft tissue tumors were osteosarcoma. Malign hemangioendothelioma of the bone was seen only at 08% in all of them.
