The results of conservative and surgical treatments of styloiditis radii de Quervain

Abstract

Though styloiditis radii de Quervain is a little disease condition, it sometimes necessitates surgery. in this research we examined the result of 147 patients who was admitted to the Department of Orthopaedics of Ev. Krankenhaus retrospectively. We compared corticosteroid which mentionted injection with conservative treatment. We prefer conservative methods instead of corticosteroid treatment which mentionted in the literature. Conservative treatment was necessary in 78,91% of cases. 31 of our patients were treated with surgery. Surgical method is simple and without complication. No relation was recorded with carpal tunnel syndrome and trigger finger. As a result we recommed conservative methods for this disease, if there is no resolution, we recommend surgery without corticosteroid application.

Öz

Styloiditis radii de Quervain küçük bir hastalık tablosu olmakla beraber bazen cerrahi tekniği gerektirmektedir. çalışmamızda Ev. Krankenhaus Ortopedi bölümüne müracaat eden 147 hastamızdaki sonuçları retrospektif olarak inceledik. Öncelikle kortikosteroid injeksiyonu ile konservatif tedaviyi karşılaştırdık. Literatürde bildirilen kortikosteroid tedavisi yerine konservatif yöntemleri tercih ediyoruz. %78,91 olguda konservatif tedavi gerekli olmuştur. 31 hastamız ameliyatla tedavi edilmişlerdir. Ameliyat yöntemi basit ve komplikasyonsuzdur. Karpal tünel sendromu, tetik parmak gibi benzeri hastalıklarla ilişkisi saptanamamıştır Biz sonuç olarak bu hastaltk tablosunun önce konservatif yöntemlerle tedavisini; sonuç alınmadığı takdirde kortikosteroide başvurmadan ameliyat tedavisini önermiyoruz.
