The treatment of tibial length difference by Ilizarov method on poliomyelitic patients

Abstract

Between 1989-1993 in Dicle University Medical Faculty Orthopaedics and Traumatology Department 8 patients with various deformities having length difference have been treated by ilizarov tecnique. On these patients, the minimum radiologically measured length difference is 6 cm, the maximum difference is 8 cm. The average was 14 cm. On the patients, whose recovering index has been staded as 42 day/cm, the avarage lengthening is 6. 75 cm. One of the patients developed wire end infection. The other patients developed the desired process. The complication rate is 12.5 % in all cases.
