Results of high tibial osteotomy in gonarthrosis

Abstract

We analysed the patients who had high tibial osteotomy for varus gonartrosis in Haydarpaşa State Hospital between 1989 and 1992. Thirteen patients who we could get into contact with, were included in the study. There were eleven women (%84.6) and two men (%15.4). The mean age at the time ofoperation was 59.9 (range, 37 to 66). The average duration of follow up was 32.8 months (range 12 to 53). Two of these patients were operated on both knees. In the follow up evaluation and 15 knees had been checked out with clinical examination and radiographic evaluation. The data obtained from these patients was evaluated with "The hospital for special surgery knee criteria "and" Baily knee scala". According to Baily knee scala conditions of the knees were: 10 knees good (%66.6), 5 knees fair. According to the THSS knee criteria mean average knee score was 77.
