The result of lateral tibial plateau fractures with depression more than 5 mm that were treated operatively

Abstract

Fourty patients with lateral tibial plateau fractures were treated operatively at Orthopaedics and Traumatology Department in Haydarpaşa Numune State Hospital, İstanbul between January 1989-September 1993. The average age was 39.1 (19.70). 28 patients were followed-19 male (67%), 11 female (33%). The mean folIow-up time was 33.6 months. Two patients had other injuries of locomotor system besides tibial plateau fractures. The fractures were reviewed according to Hohl's classification and the patents who had depression under 5 mm were excluded. The patients were evaluated according to Rasmussen's criteria. Our results were 6 perfect (21.4%), 19 good (66.9%), 2 moderate (6.1%) and 1 bad (3.6%). There were no short term complication except one who exhibited deep wound infection.
