Salter and varization-derotation osteotomy results in the treatment of residuel subluxation of C.H.D.

Abstract

Between 1989-1995, in the Orthopaedics and Traumatology Department of Gülhane Military Medical Academy Haydarpaşa Training Hospital, we performed closed Salter and varization derotation osteotomy for 12 patient's 12 hip which had residuel subluxation after a conservative treatment. The average age of the patients at the time of the operation was 18 months. The average duration of follow-up was 38 months. The average preoperative acetabular index was 30°, CE: 4° and CD: 151°. The average postoperative acetabular index was 17.6°, CE: 27.7° and CD: 136°. At the latest follow-up radiographic evaluation according to the classification of Severin, %66.6 of the hips had excellent results, and %33.3 good results. According to the system of Kalamchi and McEwen, 2 hips which had avasculer necrosis were Group 1 and 1 hip was Group 2. The most recent clinical evaluation according to the classification of Berkley-McKay, %75 of the hips had excellent results and %25 good results.
