Intertrochanteric fractures of the femur treated with Leinbach endoprosthesis

Abstract

14 patients with intertrochanteric fractures were treated with Leinbach hip endoprosthesis between April 1994 and May 1996. 10 of them were female and others were man. The mean age was 74.8 years old. The average follow-up period was 13 months. Merle'd Aubigne functional hip scores were used for evaluation of the patients. 1 patient (%7.1) was classified excellent, 4 patient (%28.5) good, 6 patients (%42.5) fair and 3 patients (%21.4) poor. No serious complication was seen. In this study, we concluded that hemiarthroplasty with Leinbach prosthesis is useful method for osteoporotic elder patients with intertrochanteric fractures.
