Arthroscopy of the first metatarsophalangeal joint

Öz

Metatarsophalangeal (MP) joint arthroscopy is a recent surgical procedure. A twenty-one-year old male amateur footballer presented with a traumatic chondral lesion of the first metatarsal head, fragmentation, and complaints of chronic MP joint pain induced by focal synovitis. He was treated with arthroscopic surgery. Follow-up examination performed 11 months later showed both complete relief of pain and joint swelling. Full range of movement was achieved.
