Osteomyelitis and its treatments

In spite of using aseptic technics and variety of effective antibiotics, the problem of osteomyelitis hasn't been completly solved. The diagnosis and pathological, clinical and radiological findings of acute and chronic osteomyelitis are prensented in this articte including 30 cases who have been treated in our clinic during 1976-1978. Acute osetomyelitis is usually seen from 2 till 15 years of age and involves the metaphysis of long bones of the lower extremities. The main couse is staphylococcus aureus. Since resistance occurs in a short period of time. It is very important to use the antibiotics occording to the results of the sensitivity tests and in suitable dosage. In acute osteomyelitis, drain age is useful in deriving the particular bacteria ond preventing the spreading of the disease. Surgical treatment in chronic osetomyelitis should be preferred to the medical treatment. Especially, the complete curetage of infected areas and treatment with spongious autogenous grafts are considered as the preferred methods.

OSTEOMYELİT VE TEDAVİSİ

Osteomyelİt günümüzde asepsi teknikleri ve antiblotiklerin çeşitliliğine rağmen problemleri hala çözümlenmiş değildir. 1976-1978 yılları arasında Bursa Tıp Fakültesi Ortopedi ve Travmatoloji Kliniğinde tedavi edilmiş otuz olgu nedeniyle akut ve kronik osteomyelitin tanımı, patolojik klinik, radyoloik bulguları sunulmuştur. Akut osteomyelit genel;likle 2-15 yaşarı arasındaki çocuklarda ve alt ekstremitenin uzun kemiklerinin metafizlerinde karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Başlıca etken staphylococcus aureus'tur. Antibiotiklere kısa zamanda direnç meydana gelme olasılığı nedeniyle antibiotiklerin antibiogramlara göre seçimi ve uy;gun dozda kullanımı önemlidir. Akut osteomyelitin tedavisinde drenaj bakterinin tanımı, hastalığın yayılmasını önleme bakımından çok değerlidir. Kronik osteomyelitin tedavisinde tıbbi tedaviden daha çok cerrahi tedaviye ağırlık verilmesi gerekmektedir.
