Reassesment of major amputations

Öz

During the period from 1978 to 1987 a total of 116 patients were amputated in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology Clinic in Ege University Medical Faculty. Of the 122 amputations 34 (28 percent) were upper, 89 (82 percent) were lower extremity amputation. We discuss the etiology, age, sex and level of these amputations. The main etiology was trauma and the mean age was 33.1.

Ege Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Ortopedi ve Ttavmatoloji Ana Bilim Dalında 1.1.1978-31.12.1987 tarihleri arasında 10 yıllık sürede alt ve üst ekstremitede major amputasyon uygulanan 116 olgu incelenmiştir. Olguların 24'ü (yüzde 20) kadın, 92'si (yüzde 80)’i erkektir. Amputasyonların 34'ü (yüzde 28) üst ekstremite, 89'u (yüzde 82) alt ekstremite amputasyonudur. Etyolojide ilk sırayı 67 olgu (yüzde 58) ile travma almaktadır. Amputasyon uyguladığımız olgulardaki teknik özellik ve modem rehabilitasyon gerekliliği tartışılmaktadır.
