2 years results of Tricon-M cementless bicondylar knee prosthesis in patients with rheumatoid arthritis

Between July 1985 and July 1987, 68 cementless bicondyler knee prosthesis were implanted at Zentrum für Orthopadische Rheumatologie und Rehabilitation der Hessingkliniken, Augsburg. 64 prosthesis in 58 patients were evaluated at a mean of 2.3 years postoperatively. 48 of 58 patients ( 83%) had rheumatoid arthritis. 93.4% of the patients were satisfied after total knee replacement and 87.4% had mild or no pain. Walking distance over 100m improved from 19 to 48 (82%) postoperatively. Significant improvement was noted as regards climbing up stairs and standing from a sitting position. Except 1 of 8 patients with poor range of motion after total knee replacement also had restricted knee motions preperatively. Radiological signs of loosening were not seen on the femoral side, but because 3 depressions were noticed, we now again routinely implant tibial plateau with bone cement.

Pre-op sadece 19 hastanın yürüyüş mesafesi 100m’nin üzerinde iken post-op bu oran 48 (%82)’e yükseldi. Merdiven çıkabilme ve oturur durumdan ayağa kalkabilme kabiliyetleri de aynı oranda iyileşti. Post-op az hareket açıklığı elde edilen 8 hastanın 1’i hariç diğerlerinde preop ileri derecede hareket kısıtlılığı mevcut idi. Radyolojik olarak gevşeme femoral tarafta saptanmazken, tibial platoda 3 kez çökme görüldü. Bu yüzden tibial komponent tekrar sementli implante edilmeye başlandı.
