Between 1970 and 1979, 1294 semiconstrained and 1152 constrained typ St. Georg knee prosthesis were implanted. 2236 of them were controlled clinically and radiologically over 12 years. The mean age at implantation was 67 (19 to 91 ). The prosthesis were fixed with Refobacin-Palacos bone cement.
After 12 years follow-up there was a significent difference between semiconstrained and constrained types in term of durability. The failure rate was much higher by semiconstrained typ St. Georg knee prosthesis. Best results were obtained with the second generation of constrained typ and unicondyler lateral slide type had the poorest prognosis.
After our 15 years experience with both types of St. Georg knee prosthesis, we believe that in over 90% of patients good clinical results can be expected with correct selection of the prosthesis design.

En iyi sonuç 2. jenerasyon menteşe tip St. Georg protezle, en kötü sonuç lateral kızak tipi protez ile alındı. Son 15 yılda 2 farklı diz protez sistemi ile tecrübelerimiz doğru endikasyon ile vakaların %90’ından fazlasında iyi klinik sonuç alınabileceğini göstermiştir.
