The early complications of femoral neck fractures treated by endoprosthesis replacement

Cerrahpaşa School of Medicine Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic were reviewed in this study. The Average age was 66,2. 173 fractures occured in women and 105 in men. The modified Gibson approach to the hip was used at 220 cases and Osbomecapproach at 58. Out oftbe whole group of 278 hips treated the important earty complications were wound infections in 32 hips (11,5 %) all of which resolved, andthislocation in 3 hips (l %). 19 patients (6,8 %) died during the first 4 wecks after operation, their average age being
77. 205 patients (73,7 %) were discharged frcm hospital within the first 4 weeks of the operation.

1970-86 yılları arasında İstanbul Üniversitesi Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi Ortopedi ve Travmatoloji Kliniğinde primer kalça endo protezleriyle tedavi edilmiş 278 femur boynu kırığı gözden geçirildi. 278 femur boynu kırığının 99'una Thompson protezi, 179'una Moore protezi uygulandı. Olguların yaş ortalaması 66,2 idi. Kırıkların 173'ü kadınlarda, 105'i erkeklerde görüldü. 220 kalçada modifiye Gibson inzisyonu kullanıldı. 58 kalçada Osborne insizyonu kullanıldı. Serimizde önemli erken komplikasyonlar 32 kalçada (%11,5) yara infeksiyonu ve 3 kalçada (%1) çıkıktır. Ameliyattan sonraki ilk 4 hafta içinde 19 olgu (%6,8) hastanede öldü ve bunların ortalama yaşı 77 idi. İlk 4 hafta içinde 205 olgu (%73,7) hastaneden taburcu edildi.
