PAPER AND PAPERBOARD INDUSTRY IN EUROPEAN UNION PROCESS

Öz

Turkey should benefit from its own resources by realizing their value in the period that it turned its face to Europe. Therefore, the
economical potential of the country should be analyzed thoroughly. Knowing its own strength and taking the necessary steps to this effect in order to take the fullest advantage of the strength are of vital importance for the countries in attaining the development level. Within the existing potential, the necessary importance and support should be given to small and medium enterprises that are forming the most effective part of the economic life and to the forest products industry which has a significant position among these enterprises. In this study, certain product groups belonging to paper and paperboard industry situated in forest products industry were discussed what situation they are in Turkey and European Union countries and competition position. In this context, hierarchical cluster analysis and discriminant analysis being of
multidimensional statistical methods were used.

AVRUPA BİRLİĞİ SÜRECİNDE KAĞIT VE KARTON ENDÜSTRİSİ

Öz

Türkiye yönünü Avrupa’ya çevirdiği bu dönemde sahip olduğu öz kaynakların kıymetini bilip onları en iyi şekilde değerlendirmelidir. Bu nedenle ülkenin sahip olduğu ekonomik potansiyel iyi bir şekilde analiz edilmelidir. Ülkelerin gelişimi ve istenilen kalkınmışlık seviyelerine ulaşmada, kendi güçlerinin iyi bilinmesi ve bu güçten azami düzeyde yararlanabilmek için gerekli adımlarında bu yönde atılması büyük bir öneme sahiptir. Mevcut potansiyel içinde, ekonomik hayatın en etkin alanını oluşturan küçük ve orta büyüklükteki işletmeler ve bu işletmeler içersinde önemli bir konuma sahip bulunan orman ürünleri sanayine gereken önem ve destek verilmelidir. Bu çalışmada orman ürünleri sanayi bünyesinde bulunan kağıt ve karton endüstrisine ait bazı ürün gruplarının Türkiye ve Avrupa Birliği ülkelerinde ne durumda bulunduğu ve rekabet durumu ele alınmıştır. Bu bağlamda çok boyutlu istatistiki yöntemlerden olan aşamalı kümeleme analizi ve ayırma analizi yöntemleri kullanılmıştır.
