DESIGN OF URBAN OPEN SPACES FOR USER NEEDS

Öz

The researches done in both the natural and built environments suggest that inspired design can make significant improvements in the lives of people and the
environment. While considerable numbers of studies have been done on user needs and conflicts in open space, no single document integrates all of this knowledge and makes it available to professionals, students and researchers. This article aims to review and synthesize the knowledge addressing  basic user needs that include comfort, relaxation, passive and active engagements, privatization of public space
etc. Also gives some suggestions for reducing conflict among various groups competing for the use of  open space in order to be created successful urban open spaces. More researches in the form of new case studies needed to show how user needs can be
effectively translated into design. Programming, planning, design and management based
on human needs will be essential to the future development of open spaces as well as the
growth of the professions designing for open spaces.

KENTSEL AÇIK ALANLARIN KULLANICI GEREKSİNİMLERİNE GÖRE TASARIMI

Öz

Doğal ve yapısal çevreye yönelik çeşitli araştırmalar, iyi bir tasarımın içinde bulunduğumuz çevrenin ve insanların yaşamında oldukça önemli ve etkili olduğunu göstermektedir. Kentsel açık alanlardaki kullanıcı gereksinimleri ve uyuşmazlıkları konusunda çeşitli çalışmalar olmakla birlikte, bu bilgilerin bir araya derlendiği ve bu konuda çalışan meslek grupları, araştırmacılar ve öğrenciler için sunulan yeterince kaynak bulunmamaktadır. Bu araştırma, başarılı bir kentsel açık alan yaratılabilmesi için ön koşul olan kullanıcı gereksinimleri konusundaki bilgilerin birleştirilerek, genel bir değerlendirmenin yapılmasını hedeflemektedir. Bahsedilen kullanıcı gereksinimleri konfor ve rahatlama ihtiyacından aktif ve pasif etkinliklere kadar geniş bir yelpazede ele alınmakta ve kentsel açık alanlarda zayıf bir tasarım veya farklı kullanıcı gruplarının çatışmasından kaynaklanan kullanıcı uyuşmazlıklarının en aza indirgenmesine yönelik tavsiyelere yer verilmektedir. Kentsel açık alanlar konusunda çalışan araştırmacılarının en önemli hedeflerinden biri kullanıcılar için konforlu ve anılmaya değer alanlar oluşturmak için gereksinimleri en iyi şekilde ortaya koymak ve bunu alan tasarımlarına aktarmak olmalıdır. Kullanıcı gereksinimlerine göre açık mekânların programlanması, planlanması, tasarımı ve yönetimi bu mekânların başarısı ve gelişiminde olduğu kadar, kentsel açık alanların tasarımına ilişkin meslek disiplinlerinin güçlenmesinde de en önemli konulardan biridir
