Resilience in Challenging Conditions: The Role of Psychological Capital in Nursing

Yıl 2026, Cilt: 23 Sayı: 1, 12 - 18, 15.02.2026

Öz

Psychological capital (PsyCap) consists of positive psychological resources that facilitate individuals' coping with challenges encountered in work and life. Research shows that nurses with high PsyCap are more resilient, motivated, and effective in stressful and demanding conditions; they have lower levels of burnout and higher organizational commitment. Current studies are generally small and cross-sectional, and the interaction of PsyCap's sub-dimensions and its long-term effects have not been sufficiently investigated. The aim of this review is to systematically examine the psychological capital literature in nursing and to reveal the relationships between PsyCap and other variables.
