The author, drawing on periodicals of the era, archival documents, and Prens Sabahattin’s correspondence, critically discusses his place in the history of liberal thought. Despite the shortcomings in his political praxis, the book underscores the historical significance of Prens Sabahattin’s ideas on individual rights and local governance, offering an in-depth analysis of these themes.

Öz

Bu kitap, Prens Sabahattin’in hayatı, siyasi faaliyetleri ve fikir dünyasını kapsamlı bir şekilde ele alarak, literatürdeki eksikliği gidermeyi amaçlamaktadır. Milli Mücadele ve Mütareke dönemlerindeki rolü, Osmanlı’nın merkeziyetçi yapısına karşı savunduğu “adem-i merkeziyet” düşüncesi ve kurduğu cemiyetler detaylı bir şekilde incelenmiştir. Yazar, dönemin basını, arşiv belgeleri ve Prens Sabahattin’in yazışmalarını temel alarak, onun liberal düşünce tarihindeki yerini eleştirel bir yaklaşımla tartışmıştır. Kitap, Prens Sabahattin’in siyasal pratiğinin eksikliklerine rağmen, bireysel haklar ve yerel yönetim konularındaki fikirlerinin tarihsel önemini vurgulamaktadır ve bu konular hakkında detaylı bir inceleme yapılmıştır.
