The desire of our Turkish citizens living abroad to transfer their language and culture to future generations is in danger due to the fact that Turkish is spoken in a narrow social circle. Although Western countries attach more importance to the teaching of their own language as a condition of social cohesion than the teaching of minority languages, the prerequisite for a qualified bilingual education is that the individual has received a good education in his mother tongue. While focusing on the importance of bilingual Turkish children living in Sweden, it is thought that a second language can only be learned at the level of a well-acquired mother tongue. In the study prepared with the qualitative research method, structured interview forms were used. 16 Turkish parents living in Sweden were reached electronically and the data were analyzed using the descriptive analysis technique in the Maxqda program. Obtained results; Turks living in Sweden prefer Turkish to communicate with their children; the language that their children speak/understand best is Swedish; It has been shown that children use Turkish with little or medium frequency in their daily lives. Children feel that they belong to Turkish culture; It has been determined that they experience socialization problems such as exclusion, lack of self-confidence. In the research, it was determined that the activities of Turkish and Turkish Culture lessons and Turkish teachers were inadequately evaluated. Bilingual Turkish children living in Sweden have negative language skill performances due to the difference in Turkish and Swedish alphabets; It has been determined that children experience vocabulary insufficiency, mixing Turkish with Swedish, pronunciation problems, and grammatical problems while learning and using Turkish. Regarding the solution of the problems experienced by bilingual Turkish children while learning and using Turkish; Suggestions were made such as using the language frequently, getting the help of parents, participating in cultural activities, reading books, increasing the mother tongue lesson hours, improving the quality of teachers and increasing the quality of mother tongue textbooks.
