In particular, who the works translated before the Republic Period belonged and the original name of the work was neglected, sometimes it was stated that it was a translation, sometimes the phrase translator was added to the name of the author, and sometimes the translator was recorded as the author of the text. This situation not only causes confusion about whether the existing works are translated or copyrighted, but also prevents the complete and error-free writing of our literary history. In addition to the names of the translated authors, the fact that the original names of their works are not specified; It also prevents making intertextual comparisons, such as whether word, sentence, paragraph level jumps are made from the original text, and if so, what is the purpose of this. For this reason, in the studies to be carried out, the Ottoman Turkish works should be read carefully and if there is no explanation, it is necessary to determine whether they are translation or copyright, the authors of the translated works and the original names of the translated work. In addition, it is important to determine in which foreign periodical the aforementioned works were published in the period, in terms of showing the periodicals that the authors followed. In this study, ten stories translated by Ali Muzaffer, who is mostly known for his translations, in 1893-1899, are discussed in order to draw attention to these features and to set an example for the studies to be done.
