With the development of technology and the ubiquity of digital platforms, a number of changes and transformations have begun to occur in the music sector, the audience, and the production processes of musical content. Many digital music listening platforms such as YouTube, Spotify, Fizy, Deezer have emerged and become used by more and more users every day. It is crucial to determine the developments in the digital music sector and users’ different music listening trends in this context.
In this study, the status of online music platforms in the digitized music sector was evaluated through the “TRT Dinle” application. In the research, the questionnaire tecnique, which is one of the quantitavive research methods, was applied online. The study sample was 246 people who participated in the survey, which was shared from their personal Twitter account and WhatsApp app between 13.12.2020 and 25.12.2020. The second part of the two-part survey consists of questions aimed at evaluating participants who use only the “TRT Dinle” platform with a conditional proposal. The survey results were analyzed via Google Forms and Google Spreadsheets, and the results were obtained and interpreted.
Accordingly, “TRT Dinle” application is preferred because it is free of charge with its rich and original musical contents; ıt was concluded that audiobooks, podcasts, old radio programs and radio theaters do not attract as much attention as musical content. “TRT Dinle” differs from its competitors with all these qualities. It is thought that the study will contribute to the literature in terms of revealing these differences with numerical data.
