The city of Kastamonu, located in the western Black Sea region, has been home to many civilizations in the historical process due to its strategic location, historical infrastructure and favorable climate. For this reason, it was also home to architectures that carried the basic codes of the cultural infrastructures, artistic tastes and technological developments of civilizations and were built for different purposes. Yılanlı Hospital, which is the only hospital in Kastamonu and the oldest hospital in Anatolia with 13th century Anadolu Selcuklu stone decoration art feature, is one of the important examples of this partially surviving architectural heritage. Yılanlı Hospital and its crown gate, hospitals in Anatolia, medical mystical folklore practices and uses of hospitals, their legends, Kastamonu architecture, their place in faith tourism, crown gate decorations and facade layout etc. It has been the subject of studies in terms of different aspects, but it has not been studied in the context of protection-repair and documenting its periodical current situation. The information about the protection and repair is very limited information that does not give details about the applications made by specifying only the date. With our study, it is aimed to contribute to the elimination of the aforementioned deficiency. In this context, the history, architecture and decorative features of the portal of Yılanlı Hospital were briefly mentioned, and the restoration history was examined from the sources reached. Then, with the information obtained, the current situation of the crown door was determined and thus the protection problems were evaluated. It is thought that the collected information will contribute to the documentation of the current conservation status of the building and to the determination of the urgently needed protection-repair practices for the identified conservation problems.
