Radyografiler, maksillofasiyel anomalilerin tanısında ve dental hastalıkların izlenmesinde kullanılan en önemli gereçlerdir. Dijital radyografi dental görüntüleme alanındaki en son gelişme olup, konvansiyonel film ile karşılaştırıldığında sağladığı avantajlar nedeniyle dişhekimleri arasında giderek yaygınlaşan bir yöntem olmaya başlamıştır. Dijital radyografinin kullanılırlığı arttıkça, dişhekimleri görüntüleme sistemine geçişte bazı problemler ve cevaplanması gereken sorularla karşılaşmışlardır. Bu derlemenin amacı, dijital radyografinin temel prensiplerini irdelemek, direkt ve yarı-direkt dijital görüntüleme sistemleri hakkında bilgi vermek ve dişhekimlerinin herhangi bir dijital sistemin satın alımı öncesinde belirlemektir
