Öz

Ortodontide retansiyon aşaması, ortodontik kuvvet uygulaması sona erdiğinde ve diş hareketleri tamamlandığında dişlerin mevcut konumunu korumayı amaçlayan ortodontik teda-vinin son aşamasıdır. Kullanılan geleneksel pekiştirme yöntemlerinin sınırlamaları; araştırmacıları hasta işbirliği gerektirmeyen, pekiştirme sürecini azaltan ve periodontal risk oluşturmayan daha etkili yöntemler aramaya yöneltmiştir. Bu derleme, yüz yıldan fazla bir süredir kullanılan geleneksel saklama yöntemlerinin sınırlamalarını vurgulamayı ve bu yöntemleri konuyla ilgili son yaklaşımlarla karşılaştırmayı amaçlamaktadır.

Recent Advances in Orthodontic Retention Protocols

Öz

Retention phase in orthodontics is the final phase of orthodontic treatment which aims to preserve the current position of the teeth when the orthodontic force application ends and tooth movements are completed. The limitations of the conventional reinforcement methods used, have led researchers to seek more effective methods that do not require patient cooperation, reduce the retention process, and do not pose a periodontal risk. This review aims to emphasize the limitations of the conventional retention methods that have been used for over a hundred years and compare these methods with the recent approaches on the subject.
