Abstract

This review critically examines The Practice of English as Medium of Instruction (EMI) Around the World, edited by Carol Griffiths and published by Springer in 2023. The book presents a comprehensive overview of how English is being used as a medium of instruction in various educational contexts globally. Drawing on contributions from scholars across different countries, the volume explores both the theoretical foundations and practical applications of EMI, including pedagogical strategies, language proficiency concerns, and institutional policies. The book highlights the complexities of implementing EMI, such as balancing content and language, supporting teachers and learners, and navigating sociolinguistic challenges.
