SonuçThis paper is more of a kind
of academic proposal rather than a study within an academic discipline. The
idea to prepare this project goes back to late 1990s, where during and after
the post-Yugoslav wars were still going on among various Balkan ethnicities and
religious groups. During this particular time, Muslims and non-Muslims around
the world began to pay attention more on the region, especially in the academic
circles and higher learning institutions. Researchers began to realize the
existence of Islamic civilization, history and culture in the Balkans, where
its roots go back to almost a millennium. However, more systematic study or
rather encyclopaedic knowledge about Islam in the Balkans was lacking far
behind. Therefore, this study aims to accomplish this scholastic mission by
putting forward the definition of the project, the need for it, the process and
the planning, and finally its implementation and successful result.
