Comparative literature is a methodological art that, by analyzing
bonds of analogy, familiarity and interaction, aims to draw a parallel between
comparative texts of literature which appear to be distant or near to other
ways of expression and knowledge or within time and space. Regardless of the
contrary views, the general opinion advocates that comparative literature may
have both national and international topics. Indeed, it is possible to compare
a national piece of literature with a foreign work or compare a national work
with another national work representing a different period. Even more, two
works belonging to the same period or same poet/author can also be compared so
long as there is an interaction (similarity or difference) between both that
makes comparison possible. Within that scope we have given space to a
comparative analysis of two odes from Harputlu Hayrî and Bosnalı Alaaddin
Sâbit. We have compared their odes in terms of form and context and put forth
the similar and different aspects in
between.
