The aim of this study is to examine the relationships between smartphone addiction, emotion regulation, and delay of gratification, and to evaluate the moderating role of delay of gratification in this relationship. The study was designed using a correlational survey model, and data were collected online from 678 participants aged between 18 and 47. The data collection tools included the Smartphone Addiction Inventory, the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, and the Delay of Gratification Scale. The data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0. Independent samples t-tests, Pearson correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis were conducted. The findings revealed that both emotion regulation and delay of gratification were negatively and significantly associated with smartphone addiction. Additionally, delay of gratification was found to moderate the relationship between emotion regulation and smartphone addiction. This indicates that the effect of emotion regulation on smartphone addiction varies depending on individuals' capacity to delay gratification. The results provide significant insights into the interaction between digital addictions and self-regulation skills.
