Analysis of Midwifery-Related Scientific Events in Türkiye during the Pandemic in 2021: Systematic Analysis

Öz

Purpose: In this study, it was aimed to carry out a systematic analysis of the content and characteristics of scientific activities conducted in the field of midwifery in Türkiye under pandemic conditions throughout 2021. Method: Within the scope of a qualitative research approach, the document-archive review technique was employed as the data collection method. The distribution of events organized during the National Midwifery Week and the International Day of the Midwife in Türkiye and shared on social media in 2021 was systematically examined (n = 44). The activities were evaluated regarding organization date, host institution, format, congress committee composition, speakers' academic titles, and event topics. In the data analysis, frequency and percentage distributions were calculated. Results: The findings revealed that 82.3% of the events were organized by universities and 13.3% by midwifery-related non-governmental organizations. In terms of structural features, 38.6% were panels, 36.5% were organized by an Organizing Committee, 81.8% took place between 08:00 AM and 05:00 PM, and 93% lasted half a day. Prominent themes included general midwifery, clinical midwifery practices, the International Confederation of Midwives theme, midwifery education, midwifery during the pandemic, practice areas, midwifery history, telemedicine/telehealth, and epigenetics. Only 9.1% of the events featured international speakers. Conclusion: The results demonstrated that scientific activities in midwifery continued steadily without interrupting professional knowledge sharing during the pandemic. Current professional issues were extensively discussed, sustaining active professional development. Nevertheless, it is recommended to encourage international participation, diversify event formats, and involve interdisciplinary contributors.

2021 Yılında Pandemi Döneminde Türkiye’de Ebelikle İlgili Bilimsel Etkinliklerin Analizi: Sistematik Bir Analiz

Öz

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, 2021 yılı boyunca pandemi koşullarında Türkiye’de ebelik alanında gerçekleştirilen bilimsel etkinliklerin içerik ve özelliklerinin sistematik olarak incelenmesidir. Yöntem: Nitel araştırma yaklaşımı kapsamında yürütülen bu çalışmada, veri toplama yöntemi olarak doküman-arşiv incelemesi tekniği kullanılmıştır. 2021 yılında Türkiye'de Ulusal Ebeler Haftası ve Uluslararası Ebeler Günü kapsamında düzenlenen ve sosyal medyada paylaşılan etkinliklerin dağılımı sistematik bir şekilde analiz edilmiştir (n = 44). Etkinlikler; düzenlenme tarihi ve yeri, ev sahibi kurum, format, kongre komitesi üyeleri, konuşmacıların akademik unvanları ve etkinlik konuları açısından değerlendirilmiştir. Verilerin analizinde frekans ve yüzde dağılımları hesaplanmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırma bulguları, etkinliklerin %82,3'ünün üniversiteler, %13,3'ünün ise ebelikle ilgili sivil toplum kuruluşları tarafından düzenlendiğini göstermiştir. Yapısal özellikler bakımından etkinliklerin %38,6'sının panel formatında olduğu, %36,5'inin bir Düzenleme Kurulu tarafından organize edildiği, %81,8'inin 08.00-17.00 saatleri arasında gerçekleştirildiği ve %93'ünün yarım gün sürdüğü belirlenmiştir. Öne çıkan temalar arasında ebelik mesleği, ebelik uygulamaları, Uluslararası Ebeler Konfederasyonu (ICM) teması, ebelik eğitimi, pandemi sürecinde ebelik, ebelerin çalışma alanları, ebelik tarihi, teletıp/telesağlık ve epigenetik yer almıştır. Etkinliklerin yalnızca %9,1'inde uluslararası konuşmacılara yer verilmiştir. Sonuç: Elde edilen bulgular, pandemi döneminde ebelik alanındaki bilimsel etkinliklerin kesintisiz sürdüğünü ve mesleki bilgi paylaşımının devam ettiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Bu etkinliklerde mesleğe dair güncel konular tartışılarak mesleki gelişim aktif biçimde desteklenmiştir. Bununla birlikte, uluslararası katılımın daha fazla teşvik edilmesi, etkinlik formatlarının çeşitlendirilmesi ve farklı disiplinlerden daha geniş katılımcı profillerinin sürece dahil edilmesi önerilmektedir.
