A circular economy is a new economic system aiming to grow in line with sustainable development goals. This system is a more environmentally friendly and resource-efficient economic system, unlike the linear economy. Thanks to the circular economy; it is predicted that the environmental and economic problems created by the linear economy will be solved. In this study, the correlation between economic growth and the recycling rate of biological waste, total environmental taxes, and patents related to ecological technologies were analyzed with panel data analysis for the years from 2008 to 2019 using data for 27 EU countries and Türkiye. According to the basic assumption tests, since the model was found to have autocorrelation, heteroscedasticity, and inter-unit autocorrelation problems, the model was estimated with the Prais-Winsten estimator, which is resistant to these problems. This paper analyzes the relationship between economic growth and waste management in the EU
countries and Türkiye. The results imply a positive relationship between economic growth and waste management. On the other hand, the main difference of this study from other studies is that the effect of waste management on economic growth has been measured in various studies for the EU member countries, but there is no such econometric study for Türkiye yet.
