Emotional prosody is very important in terms of students' conveying their feelings, thoughts and intentions to the receiver in their speech. This study aimed to identify the vocal characteristics of students in four basic emotional states; whether their prosodic expressions create a significant difference; and the emotions that this difference originates from. This study, whose sample consisted of 10 Turkic origin students learning Turkish at TÖMER, was designed as an exploratory mixed method and was completed with the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data obtained with the Praat program. Content analysis technique was used in the analysis of qualitative data, and Normality Test, Friedman Test and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test program was used in the analysis of quantitative data. As a result, the pitch tendencies of students' emotion-based prosodic expressions were determined and a statistically significant difference was determined in terms of fundamental frequency averages between sadness-happiness and happiness-anger emotions.
