Regional Development-Oriented Mission Differentiation and Specialization: The Case of Bingöl University

Öz

The economic, social and cultural development of a region is realized through collaborative efforts by different institutions and carried to the national level. Universities play a key role in transferring their scientific knowledge to the field and make great contributions to these collaborative efforts. The development and specialization process of Bingöl University within the scope of the Regional Development-Oriented Mission Differentiation and Specialization Program started by the Council of Higher Education (YOK) reveals the function of universities in regional development. Bingöl University leads regional development with the products and services it produces in the field of Bees and Bee products. Thanks to this leadership based on scientific knowledge, there has been a significant increase in the amount of bee products produced in Bingöl and surrounding provinces in recent years. As a result, the achievements of Bingöl University serve as a notable example, demonstrating that the project initiated by YOK could significantly impact regional development.
