Determination of reactions of some cotton varieties against wilt disease caused by <em>Verticillium dahliae</em> Kleb.

Abstract

This study was carried out to determine the reactions of some cotton varieties, against wilt disease caused by Verticillium dahliae Kleb. in Diyarbakır (Bismil) in 1999. The experiment was set up in randomized blocks design methods with three replications, in a farmer's field which were naturally infected by the pathogen and 26 cotton varieties were used in the research. The cotton yield was found as the sum of the first and second harvests. The disease percentages and disease index data were taken at the end of the vegetation period. Fifty plants were examined per plot. The stems of plants at crown region were cut and vascular system discoloration was examined to determinination of the wilt disease. The disease index was recorded according to 0-3 scales. The disease percentage, disease index and the yields of cotton varieties differed. The disease percentage, disease index and the yields of cotton varieties varied between 23.47 and 58.92%; 0.25 and 1.49; 257.8kg/da and 405.9kg/da, respectively. Nazilli 87, M-39, GW-8751, Nazilli 143, GW-1711 and BD-11 were recorded as the last diseased varieties and the highest yield was obtained from Erşan 92, Sivon, BD-11, Vered and GW-1710 cotton varieties. A negative correlation was found between disease index and cotton yield.

Bazı pamuk çeşitlerinin solgunluk hastalığı (<em>Verticillium dahliae</em> Kleb.)'na karşı reaksiyonlarının belirlenmesi.

Öz

Bu çalışma, bazı pamuk çeşitlerinin solgunluk hastalığı (Verticillium dahliae Kleb.)'na karşı reaksiyonlarını belirlemek amacıyla 1999 yılında Diyarbakır (Bismil)'da yapılmıştır. Deneme, daha önce hastalık etmeniyle bulaşık olduğu bilinen bir üretici tarlasında tesadüf blokları deneme desenine göre 3 tekerrürlü olarak kurulmuş ve denemede 26 pamuk çeşidi kullanılmıştır. Deneme mevsim sonunda hastalık oranı, hastalık indeksi ve kütlü pamuk verimi yönünden değerlendirilmiştir. Pamuk toplandıktan sonra, her parselden tesadüfen belirlenen 50 bitkinin gövdeleri kök boğazı seviyesinden enine kesilmiş ve iletim demetlerinin renk değişikliği hastalık yönünden incelenmiştir. Her parselin hastalık oranı bulunduktan sonra 0-3 skalasına göre hastalık indeksi hesaplanmıştır. Pamuk çeşitleri hastalık oranı, hastalık indeksi ve verim yönünden farklılıklar göstermiştir. Çeşitlerin hastalık oranı %23.47 ile %58.92; hastalık indeksi 0.25 ile 1.49 ve verimi 257.8 kg/da ile 405.8 kg/da arasında değişiklik göstermiştir. Nazilli 87, M-39, GW-8751, Nazilli 143, GW-1711 ve BD-11 en az hastalanan; Erşan 92, Sivon, BD-11, Vered ve GW-1710 en verimli çeşitler olarak saptanmıştır. Hastalık indeksi ile pamuk kütlü verimi arasında negatif bir ilişki belirlenmiştir.
