The euphthiracarid mites detected in Artvin province (Acari: Oribatida)

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the euphthiracarid mites of Artvin province. Therefore, soil, litter, tree bark, moss and lichen samples were collected from the various localities in Artvin province between 1992 and 1994. Mites in the collected samples were extracted by using Berlese funnels. Identification of the mites examined using stereo, light and scanning electron microscopes was made on the basis of the literature. At the end of the study, three taxa belonging to the family Euphthiracaridae Jacot 1930 were identified. These taxa were Acrotritia ardua ardua (Koch, 1841), Acrotritia duplicata (Grandjean, 1953) and Euphthiracarus (E.) cribrarius (Berlese, 1904). Two of them, Acrotritia ardua ardua (Koch, 1841) and Euphthiracarus (E.) cribrarius, were recorded previously from Turkey; the other one, Acrotritia duplicata (Grandjean, 1953), was recorded for the first time in Turkey.

Artvin ilinde saptanan euphthiracarid akarlar (Acari: Oribatida)

Öz

Bu çalışma Artvin ilinin euphthiracarid akarlarını saptamak üzere yapılmıştır. Bu amaçla 1992–1994 yılları arasında Artvin ilindeki çeşitli lokalitelerden toprak, döküntü, ağaç kabuğu, yosun ve liken örnekleri alınmıştır. Toplanan örneklerdeki akarlar Berlese hunileri kullanılarak ekstrakte edilmiştir. Stero, ışık ve tarama elektron mikroskoplarında incelenen akarların teşhisleri literatüre dayanarak yapılmıştır. Çalışma sonunda Euphthiracaridae Jacot, 1930 familyasına ait üç takson tespit edilmiştir. Bunların Acrotritia ardua ardua (Koch, 1841), Acrotritia duplicata (Grandjean, 1953) ve Euphthiracarus (E.) cribrarius (Berlese, 1904) olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bu türlerden Acrotritia ardua ardua (Koch, 1841) ve Euphthiracarus (E.) cribrarius Türkiye'den daha önce kaydedilmiş olup, Acrotritia duplicata (Grandjean, 1953) ise Türkiye faunası için yeni kayıt niteliğindedir.
